The Story of a Pastor and a church.

Job 23:10 says “But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I shall come forth as pure gold.” This could be the theme song of the life of both my life and the birth of a dynamic ministry.
My parents were Willie Cecil (d. 1971) and Annie Mae McCann (d. 2017) and I was born February 27, 1963. I am the youngest of four children (Freddrick Sr (d. 1988) Michael and Betsy Anne (d. 1959) and we were all born and raised in Gainesville Florida. I gave my first sermon at the age of 12 on The Woman Caught in Adultery at Deliverance Temple Church of God in Christ in Gainesville, Florida. I would go on to be blessed to be a minister of Music for the Orlando District of the Church of God in Christ. I am the founder and Lead Pastor Teacher of First Day Christian Center in Atlanta Ga.
I attended college in Oklahoma where I played football and Florida A&M where I majored in Economics. I would later launch my first business, Timmothy McCann & Associates at the age of 27, became a National best-selling novelist with Harper Collins at 35 and created a Multi-Million Dollar real estate business by the age of 43. He assumed his life was set when God called him to launch the vision that would be referred to as First Day Christian Center.
After being a minister in mega churches such as Elizabeth Baptist under Pastor Craig Oliver and Greater Travelers Rest under Pastor E. Dewey Smith, I was called to launch First Day Christian Center. Our covering is Pastor Nate Stewart of Greater Life Baptist Church of San Diego Ca.
First Day was created to be a church—for people who used to go to church but no longer wanted to be a part of church. It's a church for those who feel castigated for whatever reason from church. It's a church for people with church hurt and wounds from the past. It's a church for people who would simply like to grow deeper in the word. Lastly, First Day is a place where people will be greeted with a smile with the understanding that our church is not here to judge but to help people to win.
Our mission is simple. We exist to use love as a catalyst for change and wholeness in those whose spiritual growth has been hampered by traditions and inauthentic portrayals of God. We feel that if we can show people the true nature of God and get them beyond religious traditions and dogma we can change the world.
DOING IT FOR THE 'GRAM'
Our worship experience is different. It's very expressive and contemporary. We open with hip hop music understanding the community in which we reside. But before it's over we will lean into the power of the standard hymns the church has been built upon.
I've been blessed to be married to my best friend in the world, LaSonya. We have two children, Anna Janay and Timmothy II as well as two fur babies (Barack Hussain O’Cat McCann, and Lexi McCann). In my free time I love writing, reading, watching are re-runs of The Sopranos, The Wire and old Movies. (I'm also a sucker for romantic comedies but don't tell anyone.) I also enjoy working out to run in my 2nd Peachtree Road Race July 4, 2019.
That's my story.
